Fabulous Friday

~ By Patricia ~

As summer starts getting into full swing, most of us are spending more time outside on our decks and patios. I found these simple yet lovely chairs at one of my favorite shops in Seattle. They would make a fun and cheerful addition to any outdoor area.
When I looked at the price tag on these chairs, my first reaction was "oh we could make those!". That seems to be my families' standard line for anything that is out of our price range. Unfortunately our confidence is way bigger than our talent! But I'm sure many of you talented readers and bloggers could make these chairs, and they would turn out great.
Whatever you do this weekend, if it's making chairs, making dinner, or making a baby smile, enjoy these last days of June.
Here are a few things I liked around the web this week. I hope you like them too.

Love coffee drinks? Want to win $10,000?

Gorgeous bedding makes for a dreamy nights sleep.

Rootbeer waffles recipe from Trader Joe's.

In Seattle today a Ferris Wheel like no other opens. (Scardy cats shouldn't ride this!)

These French Market Baskets are perfect for summer.

Weekend Vegas Trip

~ By Samantha ~

Last weekend my brother, two sisters and I all went to Las Vegas for the weekend to visit family and friends. My Dad, oldest Brother and his wife live in Vegas. We all flew there for a little mini vacation to see family and cousins. It was the first time in a long time that all 5 of us grown up children were together and it was wonderful! Most of us being from Washington thought the heat was a bit much so we spent most of our time indoors or swimming in an outdoor pool, talk about a weather shock. But when the sun went down and it got a little cooler out we did what most do when they visit Las Vegas, we checked out the night life. We cruised through the different casinos, we walked along the strip and soaked up all of the scenery.

We even got the courage to ride this roller coaster at the New York New York Hotel!!! It was crazy and fun, I even have the bruises to prove it! We laughed, we cried and couldn't stop talking about our ride.

Meg and I on the Las Vegas strip. I love this girl :)

All 5 of us "kids" on the Las Vegas Strip!

We had a great weekend with plenty of laughing, crying, talking and brother/sister bonding time. I loved every second of it. I am also thinking we should make it an annual trip to catch up on each others lives. Thanks family, it really was FUN!!

Fabulous Friday

~ By Patricia

Marilyn Monroe got it right with the above quote.
It takes courage to think and act in ways that others may say are ridiculous. It takes courage to march down your own path, faith in one hand, a vision for your own new life in the other. I know I am not alone when I look around and say this is not working for me.
I need more, I need different, I need to risk appearing ridiculous.

Here's to hoping you all have a wonderful weekend, and that whatever you do, or whoever you are with you experience joy. And don't be afraid to be ridiculous.
Here again are a few things from around the web that I think you might like.

See this fun way to tell time this summer.

I would love one of these hand blown glass beauties.

Need a pretty summer purse for less than $30?

Here's a photo challenge from one of my favorite bloggers. (and a peek of a fabulous Seattle Bakery)

Great decorating idea for what to do with an old map.

Weekend in Pictures - Father's Day

Our day started with a hike with all of our children. Ashley and I are trailing behind :)
While on our hike, we saw this is a GIANT tree root that had come out of the ground. The boys were standing by and it made them look so tiny. If you look to the right you can see the tree still attached. It was HUGE!!!

Nobody told me that there were going to be BEARS on this hike!! Yikes!

Hubby fired up the grill and we enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner. YUM :)

The Hubby's Father's Day gift, a Kindle Fire. He loves it!

I'm beginning to think I need an umbrella as big as this one. We are living up to our rainy reputation here in Seattle. The weatherman says the sun is coming out today, and I can't wait. I would love to go on a picnic this weekend at the beach.
Here are a few things I've found around the web that I like, and I hope you do too.
I hope you have a fabulous Friday!

Can you believe only $4.95 for this beautiful summer top?

Cute idea for a Mini Cooper.

Super yummy raspberry muffins to make on a Saturday morning.

A white t-shirt and khaki shorts, who knew it could look this fantastic?

Chic and fashionable at 80? Yes, and you can see the lovely ladies here.

Pinks, Greens and Blues Oh My!!!

~ By Samantha ~

With summer approaching fast and Father's Day on Sunday I need to start cleaning off our deck and getting it in tip top shape for lots of summer BBQ's and plenty of outdoor entertaining. I love adding color to an outdoor space, it really brightens it up. I am so day dreaming about this colorful deck...I am also digging the pink bench :)

Coffee Foam Art, Temporary Beauty In Your Cup

~ By Patricia ~

In honor of our Starbucks Gift Card Giveaway, I thought I would show you some pictures of some really great coffee foam art. It really is art, just look at the picture above, a galaxy in your coffee cup!
Of course not every barista is this talented, but I am a little in awe of the ones who are.

This seems to be the most popular image that is made with foam. I have had this design in my coffee at Starbucks and lots of other independent coffee houses. It's pretty, and still impressive.

How cute is this little monkey? Almost too cute to drink! Chocolate is used by some foam artists for some of the detailing. This would put a smile on anybodies face first thing in the morning!

I am so impressed with this sun. How long did it take to learn how to do this?

Love the bear, too. I know that the foam art is only temporary, but seeing something like this in my coffee cup would start my day out with a smile.

Pretty heart. I like this.

Animals seem to be popular here, don't they? What a sweet kitty.
I hope you liked my little tour of foam art here. Maybe the next time you are in your favorite coffee place you could ask your barrista if they could do something like this for you. Or maybe you're just happy if they get your order right.
Don't forget to enter our Starbucks Gift Card Giveaway that ends on Friday. We are very excited about this because it's our very first giveaway, and we love Starbucks! Hope you all have a great day!

Fabulous Friday

~ By Patricia ~

It has been a wet and wild week up here in Seattle.
Flowers blown off trees, beach parties cancelled, and new umbrellas bought are just some of the goings-on here. But you take the good with the bad, and make the best of it. And it's almost the weekend, so we are not about to let all this rain dampen our spirits!
Hope you are having a fabulous Friday, and here's a few great finds from around the web this week.
Check it out!

  •  This is beautiful.
  • You'll love being in the kitchen if you're wearing this beauty.
  •  Pretty summer sandals at a beautiful price!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Party planning, it's all in the details

Recently we went to my best girlfriends daughter's 8th Birthday party. It was a Beach themed party and if you ask me, my friend hit a home run on this one! Let me tell you the attention to detail that my BFF has when it comes to parties is amazing. Check out the cake, it is two tiered and fabulous!

These sugar cookies were one of the party favors, they were a combination of starfish and flip-flops. She wrapped them in cellophane, put a tag and a ribbon on them. Instant cuteness!!

Another great idea were these candy kabobs, so simple but so cute. She just chose a variety of candies, created a little pattern and topped them off with pre-made marshmallow stars. Love it!!

There are so many great ideas when it comes to kids birthday parties. I loved the beach theme and all of the little details she put into this event. What in inspiration for my future party planning gigs! Thanks to my BFF for letting me share this special day with you all :)

Neon Nails

~ By Samantha ~

Neon seems to be everywhere these days. Neon clothes are back (wish I would have saved those neon shorts I sported everyday as a 'tween) and neon nail polish is popping up everywhere! I am a fan of painting my nails here and there for a pop of color. I would venture out to the neon pinks for sure. But what about this yellow? Hmmm not sure if it's for me. How about you? Would you wear it?

Weekend In Pictures

~ By Patricia ~

I love going to the Pike Place Market in Seattle on the weekend. It's always filled with lots of people and there is always a lot to see. I usually pick up some flowers to bring home when I'm there.
This darling little girl seemed to be having a hard time picking out the bouquet of flowers she wanted. Her yellow jacket matched those gorgeous yellow tulips perfectly.

My daughter Megan and I wandered into this antique store, where I made her sit in this old phone booth so I could take her picture. She's had a cell phone since she was very young, so the idea of using a phone booth was a real novelty for her.

This is an open area of Downtown Seattle. We have summer concerts and all sorts of great things happening here. But how crazy are these trees? Who did this? It's kind of pretty but is it going to hurt the trees? I definitely have to find out about this!

This is another great place that is part of The Market. Sur La Table is a kitchen shop, and this is the original store. I love going in here because they carry top of the line kitchen-ware, and it always inspires me to be creative in the kitchen. I am really craving some homemade peanut butter cookies, so I better get in the kitchen!

We went to an indoor flea market that was held in a very old ballroom in Seattle. They still give dance lessons, and I hear it's quite a "happening" place in the evenings. I've never considered taking dancing lessons before, but the ballroom is kind of pretty and I can imagine it could even be a little magical at night.

Seattle has a lot of fantastic restaurants, but my daughter and I just wanted something fast. Our fish and chips lunch was pretty tasty. Elliott's is right on the waterfront and pretty soon all the tourists will be here and it will be so crowded.

After all the walking around I did in the city this weekend, all I wanted to do was go home and sit on my own couch. So I did
But not before going into this lovely store and sitting on all the pretty couches they had. I am so wanting that gorgeous white couch there in the window.
I had a great weekend. Hope yours was too.
